WNBA: Diana Taurasi Voices Truth About Her Caitlin Clark Criticism
Patrick Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

It’s no secret Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is having a hard time adjusting to the WNBA. This prompted Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi to voice out her criticism on the rookie, as well as an optimism for her future in the league.

Just months ago, Clark capped off her impressive four-year run in college by breaking Pete Maravich’s old record . As a result, the former Iowa Hawkeyes point guard became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the job done when her team lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the championship round.

Shortly after the loss, Clark was selected first by the Indiana Fever during the 2024 WNBA Draft . She is joined by other notable names in women’s college basketball, such as Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and Los Angeles Sparks Cameron Brink.

Even before season officially started, the Fever rookie already made waves by signing lucrative endorsement deals and becoming a factor for the league to provide chartered flights for its players. As a result, a lot of attention has been placed on Clark and her debut in the WNBA.

WNBA Star Diana Taurasi Drops Truth Bomb On Caitlin Clark’s Rookie Campaign

Unlike the expectations of many, Clark’s performance as a rookie hasn’t exactly lit the league on fire. This prompted Mercury star Diana Taurasi to giver her take on the matter, as seen in an article written by Ryan Gaydos for Fox News.

“It’s an uncomfortable league. It’s physical, it’s a grind. You never feel comfortable. You feel used to the things around you (as you play more),” Taurasi said. “At the same time, she’s in an interesting position where she’s played on the ball her whole career. Sometimes you have to play off the ball, sometimes that’s the solution,” Gaydos wrote.

Over the course of two games, both losses for Indiana, Clark averaged 17.0 points on 32 percent shooting from deep, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. However, the rookie is also committing seven turnovers and four fouls per contest.

While Clark is clearly struggling in the pros, she has a long season ahead of her to improve. And if Taurasi is to be believed, maybe all the Fever rookie needs to do is just play ball.
