Steelers star DT blasts reporter's 'bold face lie'

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward took to social media on Tuesday to bash Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for what he called a "bold face lie."

The beat writer reported on Tuesday morning that Heyward "did not tell the Steelers about his threat to skip OTAs, preferring to announce it on his podcast, 'Not Just Football.'"

The six-time Pro Bowler has been absent from Pittsburgh's voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs), explaining that his decision to sit out is "just contract negotiations," per ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

Heyward turned 35 on May 6 and is due a $16 million base salary this season.

The three-time first team All-Pro has spent his entire career with the Steelers since being selected in the first round (31st overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. Heyward won the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

He missed more than two games for the first time since 2016 last season after suffering a groin injury in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Heyward still finished the year tied for fourth on the team in tackles for loss (six) while adding three quarterback hits and 2.0 sacks as well.
