Following their playoff elimination on Monday night, it’s evident that the Los Angeles Lakers need to make significant changes.
Head coach Darvin Ham’s tenure with the team is likely over, and further adjustments are on the horizon for the summer.
The Lakers are expected to pursue another star to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Paul Pierce has suggested a potential target.
During a segment on “Undisputed,” the former NBA star proposed that the Lakers should consider Donovan Mitchell, who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pierce believes Mitchell would seamlessly integrate into the Lakers’ roster, alleviating some of the pressure on LeBron James while allowing Anthony Davis to operate more effectively in his preferred role.
Acquiring Mitchell would immediately enhance the Lakers’ postseason prospects and likely solidify LeBron James’ commitment to Los Angeles.
Mitchell’s future with the Cavaliers appears uncertain, particularly if the team fails to advance past the opening round of the playoffs.
Consequently, the Lakers will be among several teams vying for Mitchell’s services, and the Cavaliers are expected to demand significant assets in return.
This could potentially involve parting ways with players such as D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves, among others.
With multiple objectives to address, including maintaining LeBron’s satisfaction, planning for a post-LeBron era, and contending for championships, acquiring Mitchell could prove instrumental for the Lakers in achieving these ambitions.
