Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Edwards Reveals Exact Game 7 Moment He Knew Denver Nuggets Were Cooked
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves just pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of Game 7s in the NBA. This is after Anthony Edwards and Co. clawed their way back from a 20-point deficit against the defending champions Denver Nuggets on Sunday night — on Denver’s home floor, no less.

The Wolves used a huge third quarter to turn his thing around as they outscored the home team, 28-14 in the third frame. They kept their foot on the gas in the fourth, and it ultimately resulted in a series-clinching 98-90 win for the Wolves, who have now booked their spot in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards Sounds Off on Pivotal Game 7 Moment

Edwards and teammate Karl-Anthony Towns had huge smiles on their faces in their post-game press conference — and understandably so. The pair spoke about a specific moment in the fourth quarter that they felt was the ultimate turning point in the contest.

According to Edwards, he knew that the Nuggets were done after seeing big man Rudy Gobert hit a wild fadeaway turnaround jumper all over Nikola Jokic:

“When Rudy hit the turnaround, I was like ‘ yeah, we probably got ‘em,’” Edwards said. “… I know that’d kill you, that’d kill your whole everything”

Nothing but net for Gobert, and you could almost feel the collective hearts of the Denver home crowd hit the floor after seeing that ball go in.

To be fair, the Wolves were up by just four points after Gobert’s miracle shot with a little less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth. However, Edwards knew how demoralizing that deuce was for the Nuggets and their fans.

True enough, the Wolves never looked back from that point forward.
