The strikeout market has been treating us reasonably well this week, so it seems to best to stay in this market as we head into the weekend. We're seeing two arms that look likely to find big games today in MLB.
Chicago's Justin Steele has gone over 4.5 Ks in four straight starts, averaging 6.25 strikeouts per game. We're liking that momentum, and this afternoon's opponent in the St. Louis Cardinals is a team we're comfortable targeting.
The Cardinals are striking out against LHP at the 10th-highest rate this season, and seven of the past nine lefty starters to see St. Louis have covered their K prop.
One of those seven lefties was Steele the last time he saw the Cards, racking up eight Ks in six innings thrown. Here's to another gem from the Cubs starter.
Lance Lynn seems to be a tremendous option in the strikeout market today, and we wouldn't hate if you wanted to sprinkle on him hitting eight, nine or 10 strikeouts either.
Lynn is averaging 9.4 Ks/game over his last five and gets what has been one of the most strikeout-prone teams in Minnesota. No team this season fans at a higher rate against RHP than the Twins, and the team is averaging over 13 strikeouts per game over their last three.
With the Twins struggling, Lynn figures to be in for another strong outing. He ranks in the 84th percentile of Ks/inning and the 85th percentile in swinging strike rate.
Lynn to record 8+ Ks is +126. He racked up 10 when he saw Minnesota back at the beginning of the season.
